If an app is frozen
Method 1 – Close via Task Manager
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

- Right‑click it and choose End task.
- Try opening the app again.
Save any unsaved work before ending a task, as this will close the application immediately.
Method 2 – Close via Alt + F4
- Click the frozen app window to give it focus.
- Press Alt + F4.
- Try reopening the app.
High CPU or memory usage
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Click the Processes tab and sort by CPU or Memory.
- Identify any process using an unusually high amount of resources.
