1. Check volume controls - click the speaker icon in taskbar

2. Check app volume - some apps have their own volume

3. Check physical mute button - on keyboard or speakers

4. Try headphones - to test if it's a speaker issue

Detailed Solutions

Step 1: Verify Volume Settings

1. Click the speaker icon in the taskbar

2. Make sure volume is not muted (no X symbol)

3. Drag the slider up to increase volume

4. Check the app you're using has sound enabled

Step 2: Check Sound Output Device

1. Right-click the speaker icon in taskbar

2. Click Sound settings

3. Under "Output," make sure correct device is selected

4. Click the volume slider to test

Step 3: Run the Sound Troubleshooter

1. Press Win + I to open Settings

2. Go to System > Troubleshooting > Other troubleshooters

3. Click Run next to "Playing Audio"

4. Follow the prompts

Step 4: Check Device Manager

1. Press Win + X, click Device Manager

2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers

3. Look for any yellow warning icons

4. If found, right-click > Update driver

5. If no issue, try disabling and re-enabling the device

Step 5: Check Default Audio Format

1. Right-click speaker icon > Sound

2. Right-click your playback device > Properties

3. Go to the Advanced tab

4. Make sure a sample rate is selected (usually 24 bit, 48000 Hz)

5. Click Apply > OK

Step 6: Restart Audio Service

1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter

2. Find Windows Audio

3. Right-click > Restart

4. Also check Windows Audio Endpoint Builder and restart it
